Conversion of St Gregory’s Church to a Recital Hall

Overview

The refurbishment and restoration of St Gregory’s church has created a functional and intimate performance space within the beautiful interior of this George Gilbert Scott Grade II Listed building. New raked seating and a light treatment of the building interior lend a contemporary feel to the space which, in addition, to its primary use by the University’s music school, provides a facility for the wider community as well as hosting Canterbury festival events.

Restoration of the historic fabric of the building is complemented by contemporary additions to improve accessibility, provide WC accommodation and upgrade the acoustic performance of the space.
